Open
Cellars to be held on Sunday 30th May in 2010, is the most important annual event in Italy featuring
wine, its people and its territories. For the past 17 years, on the last Sunday
of May, the wineries of the Wine Tourism Movement have opened their doors to the
public encouraging direct contact between producer and wine lover. Interest in the event has grown
substantially from year to year and has attracted increasing attention of
tourists and residents, but especially intrigued by the event eager to
experience great cultural and human affairs.
Back again
this year "Chalices of Stars" The traditional summer event
created by Movimento Turismo del Vino that, singing the praises of Bacchus,
one of the most fascinating nights of the year, offers tourists the chance
to enjoy "the rain of tears of San Lorenzo "in the company of a quality
wine. On 10 August, in the historic centres and plazas Italian, including
courts of unexpected beauty and castles, lovers of good drinking wine lovers
can taste the best wines from member wineries combined with typical quality
products, expression of the local heritage of each region hosting the event.
To welcome
the grape harvest, a similar event as Open Cellars is held in
September. It is the ideal opportunity to open the doors of
wine businesses and to assist tourists and visitors to the phase of the
production cycle, involving directly walking
them among the vineyards, visits to farms, tasting of typical
products combined with wine production. The festival includes
folklore displays, food and wine from all the vineyard areas of Italy.
The year 2008 brought a new annual event
taking place in the weekend near the
anniversary of St. Martin, November 14. On this occasion, the wineries are open to share with everyone
the new wine called Novello, and the latest vintages, combined with seasonal food accompanying the
wine.
Verdicchio Wine Festival, held annually in Staffolo in the second week of August lasting for a whole week.
Besides the folklor events taking place, is an important time to highlight the high
standards achieved by the quantity and quality wine produced in the area
that has earned the nickname "Colle del Verdicchio".
Cupramontana, first weekend in October. First held in 1928, this year will
be the 73rd annual Festival of the Grape to be held in Cupramontana. A
four-day event with gastronomic stands, food stalls, live music every day, a
parade on the Sunday, and folklore events and craft from the region.
"Christmas in the Cellar" is the last of the annual events on the calendar
of the Movimento Turismo del Vino.
The wineries are open for visitors to think about
stocking up on wine for the Christmas festivities, and to think of
gifts to put under the tree. In
addition to tasting wines and local products in the
cellars, there is an opportunity to choose among the many gift packs
and proposals of the various companies.
